Netflix周四表示,在最近结束的季度中,新增了超过五百万订阅用户,但预示增长放缓。

这家流媒体巨头表示,截至九月底拥有2.827亿订阅用户,利润为24亿美元,收入同比增长15%,达到98亿美元。

Netflix表示,其美国广告业务持续增长,并计划在今年年底在加拿大推出,在2025年在其他国家推出。

Netflix announced on Thursday that it gained over five million subscribers in the last quarter, but it also indicated that its growth is slowing down.

The streaming giant ended September with 282.7 million subscribers, with a profit of $2.4 billion on revenue that increased by 15 percent to $9.8 billion compared to the same period last year.

Netflix mentioned that it is expanding its US advertising business, with plans to launch in Canada by the end of this year and in other countries in 2025.

"We have successfully reaccelerated our business as planned and look forward to ending the year on a high note with a strong lineup of shows," the streaming powerhouse stated in a letter to investors.

Upcoming releases on Netflix this quarter include the second season of the popular show "Squid Game."

The dystopian Korean horror series about a deadly game show remains the most-watched Netflix TV series ever.

This quarter, Netflix will also stream a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, as well as two NFL games on Christmas.

The streaming service reported a 35 percent growth in membership for the ads plan quarter-over-quarter, with over half of sign-ups coming from countries where it's available.

Emarketer senior analyst Ross Benes cautioned that Netflix must be cautious not to compromise the viewer experience as it integrates ads into its programming, predicting that US ad revenue would be a small portion of the company's earnings.

Netflix mentioned that the average time spent watching its platform increased in the last quarter, highlighting hits such as "The Perfect Couple," "Emily in Paris," and "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F."

To address slowing growth, Netflix introduced an ad-supported offering last year in conjunction with cracking down on password sharing.

As part of this initiative, Netflix removed its cheapest commercial-free plan in the UK and Canada, with plans to expand this policy further.

In the US, the company has started offering combined packages with former competitors, allowing users to subscribe to Netflix through joint subscriptions with Peacock and Apple TV.

Netflix also launched an in-house advertising platform to help brands optimize customer data, ending its partnership with Microsoft for that technology.

Investors have responded positively to these changes, with Netflix shares rising this year, although the company cautioned that overall subscriber growth could slow down.

Netflix is currently dominating the video content market, while Disney+ continues to struggle nearly five years after its launch with content from the Marvel and Star Wars universes.
