vivo Responds to Glare Phenomenon in X200 Pro Phone Photography

Recently, many users reported a "glare" issue in photos taken with the vivo X200 Pro phone, sparking a lot of discussion.

Yesterday, vivo Vice President Huang Tao posted on Weibo to address the issue in detail.

Regarding the trigger of the glare, Huang Tao explained that due to the curvature of the lens elements, light would reflect between the two surfaces of the lens, resulting in glare of varying degrees as the angle of light changes when shooting under strong light. The glare phenomenon of the X200 Pro belongs to an extremely extreme off-frame glare caused by strong incident light outside the framing.

As to whether the glare of the X200 Pro is more pronounced than other products, Huang Tao mentioned that it is indeed more prone to triggering and more obvious compared to other products.

There are two reasons for the more pronounced glare:

• The X200 Pro is equipped with an f/1.57 large aperture main camera, the largest in a phone's main camera, but a larger light input makes it more prone to off-frame glare.
• The X200 Pro's coating is better at handling radiate and petal-shaped glare (ghosting) from front night sky light sources, but compromises on the blue spectrum, resulting in blue glare off-frame, more prominent than the gray glare of other products.

Regarding the solution, Huang Tao stated that software updates for optimization will be pushed out as soon as possible, and custom peripheral optimization solutions will be expedited and provided free of charge to users in need.

Xiaomi Conference Scheduled for October 29th, Three New Products to Be Released Soon

Xiaomi has announced that a conference will be held on the evening of October 29th, bringing several new products including the Xiaomi 15 series phones, PENGPAI OS 2.0, and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra into the spotlight.

The design of Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro phones has already been officially revealed. The Xiaomi 15 will feature a 6.38-inch flat screen with a 1.38mm thick frame, four-curve wrapped middle frame, and a "volcanic" lens design; The Xiaomi 15 Pro weighs 213 grams and has a thickness of 8.35mm, with a fully equal four micro-curve screen.

Xiaomi founder and chairman Lei Jun mentioned on Weibo that due to the significant increase in component costs this year and the large investment in research and development, Xiaomi 15 does indeed need a price increase. He noted that Xiaomi 14 will be the last one priced at 3,999 RMB.

The new PENGPAI OS 2.0 will see upgrades in three main aspects: the HyperCore kernel, HyperConnect smart connection architecture, and the Xiaomi system-level AI HyperAI.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has already opened reservations on the Xiaomi website, and Lei Jun has hinted at a slightly higher price, with no further information available at this time.

American Woman Sues Character.ai, Alleging it Led to Son's Suicide

An American woman, Megan Garcia, has filed a lawsuit against Character.ai, its founders Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas, and Google, alleging that their products caused the suicide of her 14-year-old son.

Analyst Claims iPhone 16 Series Faces Order Cut of 10 Million Units

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple has cut orders for the iPhone 16 series by around 10 million units for the fourth quarter of this year and the first half of 2025, with the majority being standard models.

Kuo also estimates that the production volume for the iPhone 16 series in the second half of this year will be 84 million units, down from the previous estimate of 88 million units.
